Diploma Performances of BAIT
The premiers will be presented on 07 January 2013. They are the outcome of the students’ first year of education. Four directors, four acting troupes, four different performances. All of the plays are based on literary texts. You will be able to see “About the creation of the world” from Rig Veda, directed by Ramunas Kaubrys (director of the Music Theatre in Klaipeda) performed by Lithuanian students; “Bobok” by Fiodor Dostoyewski, directed by Ewa Ignaczak (artistic directorof Sopocka Scena Off de BICZ), “Kordian” by Juliusz Słowacki, directed by Bartosz Zaczykiewicz (a Polish theatrical director) performed by Polish students; and “The Raven” by Edgar Alan Poe, directed by Ruta Bunikyte (a Lithuanian theatrical director) together with the students, performed by the international group comprising of not only Polish and Lithuanian students, but also by ones coming from Sweden.

„Bobok”

Ivan Ivanovitch, an author with writers block, attends a funeral and as he falls to contemplation in the graveyard he hears the voices of the recently deceased and buried. He listens to them discuss their existence on earth and political scandals, however, as they are about to reveal the shameful details of their lives he startles them by sneezing, they fall silent.

The performance is the outcome of work based on several scenes of “Kordian” a drama by Juliusz Słowacki.
The scenes of “Preparation”, “Fear and Imagination” as well as ”The madhouse” were the inciting point of both the exercises and the performance, and while they created an independent entity they do allude to the knowledge of the entire drama. The essence of the search of the shape of the performance is the laboratorial discovery of a way of reading the original theatrical imagery of Juliusz Słowacki and combining it with the sensitivity of the contemporary actors and actresses by developing their acting techniques.
„The Raven”

The raven – the human wondering into his soul. As he visualizes his soul’s expression as a „raven”, he starts a long monologue with it. Why did you come flying? Who are you? What do you think you look like? What do you mean to me? Get out of here! The monotonous and the repetitive answer makes the human turn to self-questioning. Then all he has to do is to befriend the raven.
Flash scenes were made according to the principles of physical theatre. Every student is the director of individual (separate) part. The task of the team work s to create the story of one split personality.
„The World”

„It is not that important who and when created it, but it’s important that it exists for me to be in it, for me to love, for us to be, for us to love… ”
The first impulse for this thirty minutes improvisation was given by ancient Indian poetry – the text from Rig Veda „about the Creation of the World”.
Rig Veda is the oldest of four Indian Vedas( the word „Veda” means „knowledge, knowing”). One of the oldest heritages of human creative work Rig Veda was written in the end of II millennium B.C. Today it will be spoken by the lips of contemporary young people. In this play the words ”I love you” spoken in various languages of the world will be used as well as texts created by the participants of the project.
„The World” is dedicated to the Good in hearts and the prayers.
The performance comprises of six parts: „About the creation of the world”, „My World”, „Heaven’s Manna”, „World is love”, „Gardens of Joy”, „The Sound that Lives in Me Desires to be Heard”.
