Third BAIT meeting
The third meeting of South Baltic Academy of Independent Theatre took place in Łeba – in Holiday Park Kacze Stawy, to be exact. The mental and topographic centre of the resort was the pool, around which both school and social matters were revolving. There the three hot June days were overflowing with creative passion, and sport and artistic emotions.
Alina Jurczyszyn’s energy expanded past the timespan of the classes and resonated long after them, manifesting itself during the viewing of the of Polish representation’s match. However, before the moments of relaxation the teacher made sure that the previously learned songs were instilled in the memory of the students.
Maria Miotk took care of the muscle memory by creating choreography to Koło Jana. The classes were completed with an hour-long stretching. Each of the students were eternally thankful for the sound of the timer marking the end of each pose. What is more she enabled the listeners to find their inner animal – a giraffe or a frog. Everything was executed within the frame of classical dance (chassé, pas de bourre, etc).
Katarzyna Pastuszak released a warlike temperament, by interspersing her classes with elements of martial arts. Pair work has inspired a wide spectrum of emotions beginning with being bellicose and finishing with tender affection. Then, as if in collusion with Maria Miotk ,she concluded her classes with painful stretching.
Ewa Ignaczak focused on the individual work of the participants. Acting etudes enchanted thought into movement and opened the perception of the listeners to the awareness of their own bodies. Developing the scenes, much as other taskas introduced by the director, served as food for thought for the students. The participants, for the first time attempted to exceed themselves. Ida Bocian and Wojciech Jaworski were the ones who showed how it is done, by showing off mastered workshop in their monodramas.
The third BAIT meeting effectively elevated lactic acid level in our muscles. this extreme experience strengthened the feeling of integration, and awoken creative apetite. It prepared us mentally for the Klaipeda meeting where “muscle will be juxtaposed with the strength of the brain.
