We have concluded the first session of South Baltic Academy of Independent Theatre – the three-year long artistic, social and educational project. On the 13 till 15 April forty-six students worked on their voice, body, and above all their soul – the diffuser of acting power, which in conjunction with the workshop creates the magic of the profession.
Przemysław Wereszczyński released the primal energy, so far dormant in the participants. At the same time he made the classes unforgettable. The lactic acid, concentrated in the muscles, effectively conserved memories.
Jurczyszyn Alina opened the throats and hearts of the students. One voice out of forty-six young breast broke all restraints. Songs learned in class accompanied the participants throughout the session.
Zdzislaw Górski took care of spatial imagination. The training awoke inexhaustible layers of positive energy in everyone. The amount of endorphins produced in the classroom made the students proud of the bruises, abrasions and scraped knees, a testimony to the effort put into the training.
Ida Bocian rose to the occasion and substituted for Katarzyna Pastuszak. The basic acting tasks, which she considers the foundation of acting, were supposed to draw the students’ attention to two crucial aspects of the profession: concentration and openness to others.
Ewa Ignaczak conducted integration classes, her goal was not only to develop trust and discipline in the group but also an awareness of the body (working both with rhythm and outside of it). This psychological training opened everyone to discussion about feelings and emotions accompanying each exercise.
The first congress of students of South Baltic Academy of Independent Theatre ascertained the organizers of the value of the project’s idea. Students from the very start of the classes, generated a creative atmosphere, and their enthusiasm has been enhanced by the teachers. Apart from heaving great fun the students had also an opportunity to individually reflect on them being a fundamental part of a group– a living organism of art.
